In 2008 Mini released the Cooper Clubman to the car-buying market. The Cooper came in four configurations: Clubman, S Clubman, and Base. The Clubman configuration is powered by the 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, which makes 34 - 37 highway miles and 26 - 28 city. The Cooper competes in the Coupe market segment, in direct competition with Honda.

The 2008 Mini Cooper Clubman was introduced to compete in the coupe market. The Clubman is a member of a series of four trim levels for the Cooper which include Clubman, S Clubman, and Base. The three-door car with its front-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Mini. There is strong competition from vehicles from Kia.

The Mini Cooper Clubman for 2009: Improving on 2008

The Cooper Clubman is equipped with a BMW 1.6 liter four-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The engine is mated to a Getrag 6-speed Transaxle. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Mini.
